The Chinese company has announced another rugged phone that is even cheaper. The Blackview BL8000 also has a dual screen, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, 50MP triple camera, and 8800mAh battery.
However, because it is $100 cheaper than the Blackview BL9000, it has a mid-range chipset Dimensity 7050, and 33W fast charging support.

I have already told you that Blackview BL8000 will be cheaper than BL9000. It will go on sale on AliExpress from January 17th. The first 1000 buyers can buy it for $199, while the selling price will be $239.

Design
Although the Blackview BL8000 has a rugged design, like the Blackview BL9000, they look different.
The main difference is on the back, and that’s the second display. It is located to the right of the camera sensors, but not in the center like the Blackview BL9000. It also has a square shape, not round.
I remember there were iPhone concepts with dual screens, but it looks like Blackview is ahead of Apple.
I don’t know about you, but I really like the way the second screen of the Blackview BL8000 looks.
This is a rugged mobile device, so it is protected from water, dust and drops by IP68, IP69K and military standards.
By the way, if the Blackview BL9000 has the latest generation of Corning Gorilla Glass 7 on the front and rear displays, then the Blackview BL8000 has Corning Gorilla Glass 5. However, I think this will be enough to protect the screens from damage.
Display
The front display of the Blackview BL8000 has a diagonal of 6.78 inches, Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. You know, it looks the same as the screen of the flagship Blackview BL9000.
The second screen on the back 1of the Blackview BL8000 has a diagonal of 1.3 inches and 240 x 240 pixels resolution. The second display can be used for a variety of purposes, such as reading messages, taking calls, controlling music, or you can just set a mechanical watch on it. From design and screens, let’s move on to performance.
Performance
The new Blackview rugged phone is equipped with Dimensity 7050 chipset. This is a 6nm processor with 5G networks support.
Although this chipset is not as powerful as the Dimensity 8020 in the Blackview BL9000, it still has a good result in AnTuTu benchmark – about 620,000 points.
Blackview BL8000 won’t have any problems with games.
By the way, it also has 12GB of built-in LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of built-in UFS 3.1 storage. The RAM is expandable up to 24GB using software, and storage up to 1TB using microSD memory card.
Camera
We won’t dwell too long on the cameras because there are no real photos yet.
The main sensor of the Blackview BL8000 has 50MP resolution. There is also an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and 2MP depth sensor on the rear panel.
The front camera has a 16MP sensor.
Even though the front camera of the Blackview BL8000 isn’t 50MP like the Blackview BL9000, you can take selfies with the main camera, thanks to the second screen on the back. This is a very useful function of the second display.
Battery
The battery of the new Blackview phone has a capacity of 8800mAh. The battery life promises to be very good, such as 10 hours of gaming, 14 hours of video playing, and 384 hours of standby time.
The smartphone supports 33W fast charging, so the full battery charge takes 114 minutes.
Conclusion
So, back to the question from the beginning of the article: would I choose the Blackview BL8000 or the BL9000?
Although I like the design of the Blackview BL8000 more, especially the square second display, the Blackview BL9000 has a better chipset with higher performance, 50MP front camera and 120W fast charging support.
The choice depends on your budget. If you have 300 dollars to spare, it is better to buy the Blackview BL9000. However, the Blackview BL8000 also looks very interesting for its $200.
